It’s Not How Good You Are, It’s How Good You Want To Be

Posted by Daniela Baldean on June 20, 2010 @ 1:06 pm

The title above is actually Paul Arden’s book. I was immediately captivated by this tiny book that you can read at two traffic light stops…What a genius idea to capture the essence of some great questions in a very simplified way. The book uses the creative processes of good advertising as a metaphor for business practice. Wish I could show you some of the images, very creative. I will share though some of the thoughts:

  • You must develop a complete disregard for where your abilities end. Try to do the things that you’re incapable of.
  • Energy. It’s 75% of the job. If you haven’t got it, be nice.
  • Don’t look for the next opportunity, the one you have in hand is the opportunity.
  • Do not try to win awards. Awards are merely badges of mediocrity.
  • The most popular conception of creativity is that it’s something to do with the arts. Nonsense. Creativity is imagination, and imagination is for everyone.
